What is LDAP and what are its Benefits?

LDAP  is the abbreviated form of Lightweight Directory access protocol. It helps in building the client-server architecture. Basically, LDAP is an application protocol that helps in accessing distributed directory over an IP network. It offers a directory service with a systematic set of records stored in a hierarchical manner.
